Wanted Ex-Regional Party Deputy Ivanushchenko Spotted in Monaco on Treason Charges.
Yuriy Ivanushchenko’s Presence in Monaco
According to Espreso.tv: Journalist Mykhailo Tkach has documented the presence of Yuriy Ivanushchenko, a former member of the Party of Regions, in Monaco. Ivanushchenko is currently wanted on suspicion of illegally acquiring 18 hectares of state land. The land, located at the 'Stolychnyi' market, is valued at over 160 million hryvnias. He is also suspected of having ties to Russian intelligence services and faces accusations of high treason.
Ivanushchenko, commonly known as Yura Yenakiievsky, was spotted on the terrace of the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel in Monaco. He was placed on the wanted list in September 2025, and on June 16, 2026, the Appeals Chamber of Ukraine's High Anti-Corruption Court ordered his pretrial detention. Ivanushchenko fled Ukraine after the Euromaidan Revolution, and was previously declared wanted in 2015, though those cases were closed two years later.
Actions by Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau
In March 2023, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) urged the president to impose sanctions on Ivanushchenko. He holds a Russian Federation passport and maintains connections with individuals involved in funding armed groups. Notably, Fedir Khristenko, a former member of the pro-Russian Opposition Platform — For Life party, has been identified as a recruit of Russia's FSB and a liaison for collaborator Armen Sarkisian, who died in 2025.
The situation has raised concerns among Ukrainian authorities, as Ivanushchenko remains free despite facing serious charges. This ongoing case highlights the challenges of bringing high-profile suspects to justice.
