Ukrainians in Ireland are changing their plans: a sharp decline in the desire to stay

According to inkorr.com: Interesting changes are taking place in the plans of Ukrainians seeking asylum in Ireland. Previously, over 40% of them dreamed of staying in this country, but in 2022 this figure decreased to just over 20%. This information was reported by the Ukrainian ambassador to Ireland, Larysa Gerasymchuk, during a conversation with the publication 'Hlavkom'. She noted that the data was collected as a result of a survey.

“I am convinced that if we conducted such a study this year, this figure would have increased to nearly 50%. A similar situation is observed throughout Europe, where Ukrainian displaced persons live. However, it is important to separate tourism from immigration,” explained the diplomat.

The ambassador also emphasized that there is a significant number of individuals from occupied territories, such as Mariupol and Kharkiv region, who greatly need support due to loss of housing and other difficulties.

New rules for providing assistance

Recently, new rules regarding housing and social assistance for new refugees from Ukraine have been introduced in Ireland. Now these individuals can receive temporary residence for 90 days with the possibility of financial support.

Thus, Ukrainians in Ireland are gradually adjusting their plans regarding staying in the country, while the new assistance measures regulate the provision of housing and social support for newly arrived refugees. This is an important step during a crisis period when support is especially necessary, and also reflects the desire to adjust assistance systems according to current needs.
