Allegations of Abuse at 'Suziria' Dance School

According to TSN.ua: The Kremenchuk District Prosecutor's Office has launched a pre-trial investigation into serious allegations against the directors of the 'Suziria' dance school. Former students have come forward with accusations of physical, psychological, and sexual abuse by the school's director, Oleksandr Kulish, and his wife, Liudmyla Kulish. The investigation is being conducted under Part 2 of Article 156 of Ukraine's Criminal Code, which deals with the corruption of minors. The prosecutor's office is urging all potential victims to come forward and file official reports. This case highlights ongoing concerns about the safety of children in extracurricular activities across the country.

The 'Suziria' dance school is located in Kremenchuk, Poltava region. The facility is currently closed due to severe winter weather. Both Oleksandr and Liudmyla Kulish have publicly denied all allegations of abuse. In a statement, Liudmyla Kulish said:

“In connection with the spread of false information on social networks regarding my husband and myself, I want to inform you that the published information does not correspond to reality.”

Prosecutors initiated the case after identifying a social media publication which, according to Oleg Balayev, 'contained signs of a criminal offense in its text and content.' The investigation remains active, with authorities continuing to appeal to possible victims to break their silence and report their experiences.

Media and Social Media Reaction

The allegations have sparked widespread discussion in Ukrainian media and on social networks, where former students have shared their stories on anonymous platforms. Public commentary has focused intensely on the accountability of the school's directors and the potential legal consequences they may face. The fact that Oleksandr Kulish will turn 85 in February has added a further dimension to public discourse surrounding the case and the imperative to protect minors.

The situation at the 'Suziria' dance school in Kremenchuk underscores the serious issue of abuse against minors in Ukraine. The prosecutor's swift response and calls for victims to seek help signal a heightened effort by law enforcement to combat such crimes. It is crucial for society to support victims and encourage the reporting of similar cases, as this vigilance can help prevent future offenses.
