A Crimean who fought for the Russian Federation, after captivity, found himself on the front line again and died.
The Kherson City Court of the Kherson Region decided to conduct special court proceedings regarding Kostiantyn Hurko. This was reported by 'Sydovyi reporter'.
Kostiantyn Hurko, a citizen of Ukraine, held the position of commander of the medical unit of the 1st tank company of the 144th motorized rifle brigade of the 40th army of the Russian Federation. His call sign was 'Hur'.
During the summer of 2023, Kostiantyn Hurko participated in military-tactical exercises in the city of Budyonovsk, located in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. He also trained medics in a battalion on providing first aid in the village of Pervalne, which is also located in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
On September 6, 2023, Hurko arrived in the village of Nova Mayachka in the Kherson region and settled in a strip of forest.
On November 9, 2023, during a combat clash with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Hurko surrendered. He was charged with treason and collaboration.
Kostiantyn Hurko was in the Mykolaiv pretrial detention center and participated in court hearings in the Kherson City Court via video link.
According to the Coordination Staff on Prisoners of War, Hurko was handed over for exchange to the aggressor state.
According to Russian media, the funeral of Kostiantyn Hurko, who died during the 'special operation' in occupied Armyansk, located in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, took place on February 1, 2025.
In Ukraine, there are no official documents about the death of the exchanged accused, so he will be tried in absentia.
Yevhen Hladkyi, a former border guard from Mariupol who was previously convicted of treason, told in an interview that during his oath-taking he swore not to the people of Ukraine, but to the Russian Federation.
It also became known that the collaborators in the colony reacted strangely to the moment of silence.
