Severe Weather Conditions Strike Kharkiv Region

According to TSN.ua: A sharp deterioration in weather, including freezing rain and ice formation, has been recorded in the Kharkiv region. In response, authorities have imposed a temporary ban on freight transport from 9:00 PM to 9:00 AM on the M-03 highway. This restriction applies to traffic heading from Kharkiv towards the Poltava and Kyiv regions. On certain sections, the ban also extends to passenger buses. This region in eastern Ukraine is particularly vulnerable to harsh winter conditions that can cripple infrastructure.

Forecast and Response Measures

Meteorologists forecast no immediate improvement, with heavy snowfall and further temperature drops expected to worsen road conditions. A national red-level danger alert has been issued for severe frosts, with temperatures predicted to plunge to -30°C from February 1st to 3rd. To manage the aftermath, over 100 units of specialized equipment and nearly 250 workers have been deployed in the Kharkiv region.

Oleh Syniehubov stated that the truck ban was implemented to prevent accidents and traffic congestion.
