Lukashenko again promises a dozen Russian Oreshniks: what does this mean.
According to ТСН: The self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko hopes to receive ten Oreshnik missile systems from Vladimir Putin. This information was confirmed by the Belarusian state agency Belta.
Lukashenko's statement
Lukashenko noted:
“A dozen will be the maximum”in response to journalists' questions after an informal CIS summit. To a clarifying question:
“But will there be a dozen?”he confidently said:
“Of course, there will be”.
Comments on the Oreshnik
In 2024, Lukashenko already spoke about the supply of Oreshniks, emphasizing that there would be ten. However, he later joked about the quantity, stating that
“one system is enough to ensure the security of Belarus”.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also revealed details about the placement of Oreshniks in Belarus.
The challenges facing Belarus in the context of security and military assistance remain relevant. Cooperation with Russia in the defense sector demonstrates how Minsk is trying to strengthen its military power under current conditions. The further developments in this area may affect regional security and relations between neighboring states.
