Over 500 Belarusian Firms Supply Weapons to Russia, Fueling Lukashenko’s War Profits.
Military Collaboration Between Russia and Belarus
According to UATV: In the past two to three years, cooperation between the military-industrial sectors of Russia and Belarus has intensified dramatically. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko is generating substantial revenue by shipping ammunition to Russia, much of which is then used in Ukraine. This partnership has become a critical pillar supporting Russia’s military operations.
Notably, more than 500 Belarusian enterprises are involved in providing arms and ammunition to Russia. Among them:
- 250 are state-owned;
- roughly the same number are privately owned.
This distribution highlights how deeply Belarus’s military infrastructure is embedded in supplying the Russian armed forces.
Lukashenko’s Role and International Repercussions
Lukashenko functions not only as a political leader but also as one of the primary beneficiaries of the war. Political analyst Franak Viačorka remarked:
“Everything bad that Lukashenko could do to Ukraine, he is already doing, and what’s more, he is making money from it.” — Franak Viačorka
These comments underscore the gravity of the situation and Belarus’s involvement in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
The expanding military ties between Belarus and Russia are raising alarms within the international community, as they could have far-reaching consequences for regional security and stability.
This development may prompt Western nations to impose new sanctions on Belarus, while also pushing international organizations to sharpen their focus on security issues in the region. Ukraine’s role in responding to these threats and adjusting its strategy amid growing military cooperation between its neighboring states remains crucial.
