Restoration of Communications
Vice Prime Minister for Restoration, Minister for Community and Territorial Development Oleksii Kuleba reported on the situation. He noted:
“The unprecedented attack on critical infrastructure facilities led to temporary power outages and left over 40% of residential buildings in Kyiv and part of the Obukhiv District of Kyiv region without heat.”
Kuleba assured that additional repair crews had been mobilized to work on restoring heat in homes. Despite the threat of new attacks, utility companies have already restored water supply in Kyiv and its suburbs.
Situation in Kyiv Region
In the Kyiv region, alternative sources of electricity are being partially used. Works are ongoing to restart systems, and the pressure of supply is finally beginning to stabilize.
Help for the Affected
“The enemy intentionally strikes at civilian infrastructure, trying to deprive people of basic living conditions during the cold winter period. For city residents who temporarily remain without heating and light, 'Points of Unbreakability' have been deployed. There, people can warm up, charge their devices, receive basic assistance and information,” summarized Oleksii Kuleba.
It was previously reported that as a result of the massive strike, over half a million consumers in Kyiv and the region were left without electricity. Additionally, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko noted that as a result of the attack, almost a third of the capital was left without heating.
Currently, Ukraine is continuing to fight the consequences of numerous attacks on critical infrastructure. The situation remains tense, and the authorities are making every effort to restore energy resource supplies and provide assistance to affected citizens.
