According to ТСН: Lieutenant General Vasyl Maliuk announced that despite his resignation as the head of the SBU, he will remain in the service. He summarized the most important special operations and assured that the fight against the enemy will continue unabated.

He reported this in his column.

Maliuk recalled that three years ago, before his appointment, he declared in parliament: for the occupiers, death is the only prospect. Since then, he has devoted all his strength to creating problems for the enemy.

“The SBU has continuously struck the aggressor — on land, in the air, at sea, and even underwater. Thanks to the Security Service, the wonderful Ukrainian word 'bavovna' has gained a new meaning. And I emphasize: it burned, burns, and will burn until the rashists stop the war against Ukraine,” Maliuk stressed.

Successful SBU special operations under Maliuk's leadership

He also recalled significant special operations that gained recognition worldwide. The most famous was the 'Spider Web' operation — an attack on Russian strategic aviation, from which the enemy has yet to recover. SBU employees also successfully attacked the Crimean Bridge three times.

The SBU's Sea Baby marine drones became a nightmare for the Russian fleet, destroying 11 enemy ships. The Russian fleet was forced to leave occupied Sevastopol and hide in other ports, Moscow lost dominance in the Black Sea. Recently, the new underwater drone Sub Sea Baby successfully damaged an enemy submarine in the Novorossiysk bay.

“We do not 'play cards,' but the SBU's special operations have consistently been a trump card for Ukraine in communication with partners and a slap in the face for our enemy,” Maliuk emphasized.

He pointed out numerous fires at Russian oil refineries, the destruction of ammunition depots by long-range drones, as well as the intense pressure that SBU fighters applied to the occupiers in all sectors of the front, including the liberation of Zmiinyi Island and participation in the Kursk operation.

“In 2023, we struck 'Oreshnik', about which few had heard at the time. This was a painful blow for the Russians,” the lieutenant general noted.

Maliuk also recalled unexpected explosions caused by traitors, war criminals, and collaborators, noting that Moscow's generals are afraid to meet with their supporters.

  • Significant strengthening of SBU counterintelligence: 128 agent networks and about 3000 traitors exposed;

  • Neutralization of 'FSB agents in cassocks' who have harmed Ukraine for years;

  • SBU's self-cleansing.

Maliuk leaves his position but not the SBU

“Today I officially leave the position of Head of the SBU. I leave with my head held high and know that I can look people in the eye,” Maliuk stated in his column.

He noted that during his leadership, effective service operations were established.

The performance of the head of the special service's duties is currently entrusted to the head of 'Alpha', Major General Yevhen Khmara. Maliuk considers him a person of a new generation who can continue and strengthen his achievements.

“I leave my position, but not the SBU. I remain in the Service system and will work for the good of the people and the state. I will make every effort to ensure that Ukraine is strong and independent, and that Ukrainians finally achieve a just peace,” the lieutenant general informed.

What is known about Vasyl Maliuk's resignation?

It should be recalled that he resigned from the position of head of the SBU. Maliuk will continue to work within the Service, focusing on carrying out asymmetric special operations of global level, receiving support from the President of Ukraine. The head of state instructed him to make this direction the strongest in the world, providing resources.

The committee of the Verkhovna Rada initially did not support the submission for dismissal, but later changed its position and approved his resignation. The Russian Duma made the decision to dismiss Maliuk, receiving 235 votes from deputies. He was not present at the parliament meeting.

Thus, Vasyl Maliuk's dismissal from the position of head of the SBU occurred against the backdrop of the service's intensified work in the fight against the aggressor. He leaves his position but will continue to perform important tasks within the SBU, focusing on the development of special operations of global significance. This transition may affect Ukraine's strategy in confronting security challenges on the international stage.
