Lviv Region Targeted in Sustained Assault

According to TSN.ua: On February 7, the Lviv region was subjected to a large-scale attack involving combat drones and missiles, which damaged critical energy infrastructure. The assault began overnight and lasted into the morning, triggering air raid alerts that extended for over six hours. This attack is part of a wider campaign targeting Ukraine's power grid during the winter months.

Maksym Kozytskyi, head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, reported that air defense forces managed to shoot down a number of drones and at least two missiles. However, a residential building in the village of Staryi Dobrotvir caught fire, with emergency services quickly extinguishing the blaze. Fortunately, there were no reports of casualties or injuries.

Impact and Civilian Preparedness

Kozytskyi further noted that the attack had damaged critical energy infrastructure objects. He warned that due to targeted strikes on energy facilities across various Ukrainian regions, power outages could last significantly longer, urging residents to charge essential devices. The ongoing conflict has seen repeated attacks on Ukraine's energy system, testing its resilience.

This assault forms part of a broader strategy aimed at destabilizing Ukraine's energy infrastructure. The readiness of the population for potential electricity supply disruptions, alongside state support for securing energy facilities, remains crucial.

The incident underscores the necessity of strengthening air defense systems and protecting critical infrastructure to mitigate the effects of similar attacks in the future.
