Over 40 Wounded, Including Five Children, in Russian Mass Attack on March 24.
Coordinated Strikes Across Ukraine
According to TSN.ua: On March 24, Russia launched a sweeping assault on Ukraine, relying heavily on Shahed attack drones. The strikes left more than 40 people injured, five of them children, and caused extensive damage across multiple regions.
Over 550 drones of various types were deployed during the operation, with a large portion being Shaheds. Ukrainian air defense forces managed to intercept more than 500 aerial targets, yet the attacks still inflicted significant harm. The affected areas included:
- Lviv Oblast
- Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast
- Ternopil Oblast
- Vinnytsia Oblast
- Zhytomyr Oblast
- Khmelnytskyi Oblast
- Rivne Oblast
- Kharkiv Oblast
- Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
The assault damaged Lviv’s historic center and St. Andrew’s Church. A maternity hospital in Ivano-Frankivsk was also hit, sparking particular public concern. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed condolences to the victims’ families, stating:
“Unfortunately, there are fatalities. My condolences to their loved ones. As of now, we know of over 40 wounded, including five children. Everyone is receiving the necessary assistance.” — Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Urgent Call for International Support
Zelenskyy further emphasized that the scale of the attack clearly shows Russia has no intention of ending the war. “Without strong pressure and tangible losses, Moscow will not develop a desire to move toward peace,” he noted. These events underscore the gravity of the situation in Ukraine and the critical need for global backing to protect civilians.
This escalation reflects the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, now in its third year. The increased use of drones in military operations signals a shift in warfare tactics and highlights the role of technological innovation in modern combat. Despite successful interceptions by Ukrainian air defenses, ensuring civilian safety remains a major challenge, reinforcing the necessity for stronger international cooperation and support from allies.
