Kharkiv Mayor Condemns Forced Mobilization Practices as Unacceptable for Ukraine.
Kharkiv Mayor's Statement on Mobilization
According to Novyny.live: In a Telegram post on January 31, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov addressed the critical need to protect citizens' rights during Ukraine's military mobilization, especially as Russian attacks continue. He stressed that the process must be conducted fairly and without violations, acknowledging the necessity of replenishing the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
However, Terekhov reported that instances of forced mobilization are still occurring.
"Such cases are still taking place,"he stated, emphasizing that these incidents should not happen in Kharkiv or anywhere else in Ukraine. His comments come amid heightened public concern over mobilization procedures, following a recent shooting incident in the Zhytomyr region that also sparked outrage.
Oversight of Mobilization Processes
Furthermore, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has ordered a resolution to issues concerning 'busing' practices, highlighting the importance of strict oversight.
"The war is not only being fought on land, in the air, and at sea,"Terekhov noted, pointing to the complex challenges the nation faces during wartime.
Therefore, the Kharkiv mayor called for strict adherence to legality and citizens' rights in the mobilization process, asserting that fairness and transparency must be fundamental principles under these critical conditions. The ongoing full-scale invasion has made mobilization a constant and sensitive issue for Ukrainian society.
Terekhov's statement underscores the pressing issue of upholding citizens' rights during mobilization, a key component of Ukraine's military strategy. The national situation demands clear oversight and legal compliance, particularly in light of recent incidents that have provoked public anger. It is vital that mobilization measures are carried out within the legal framework, which should not only aid in strengthening the armed forces but also in maintaining public trust.
