Tymur Mindich was sentenced in absentia: what it means for the Midas case.
According to ТСН: Tymur Mindich, a businessman and participant in the case of "Midas," has been arrested in absentia. The preventive measure was chosen without his presence, since he left the country on November 10, just hours before the searches.
Mindich was assigned a public defender, but they were unable to make contact with him. As a result, no bail was set, as this is impossible in the context of an absentia trial. Consequently, the preventive measure was chosen in the form of detention. Director of NABU Semen Kryvonos emphasized the importance of this procedure for declaring Mindich wanted internationally.
After the preventive measure was chosen, prosecutors confirmed that the case could be handed over to Interpol for Mindich's arrest, especially if he attempts to cross the border. However, his whereabouts remain unknown.
Possibility of Escape
In response to a question about Mindich's possible escape to Israel, the prosecutor noted that determining this information depends on the legislation of the country and its cooperation with Interpol.
Accusations of Pressure
The prosecutor stated that Mindich attempted to pressure Rustem Umerov, the then Minister of Defense, to influence him during the procurement of low-quality body armor.
“As a result, the contract was terminated due to the non-compliance of the product with the requirements, and no product was delivered,”Umerov noted.
It was also indicated in court that Mindich communicated with Oleksandr Tsukerman, a businessman and figure involved in the "Energoatom" case, using noise-cancelling devices during conversations.
Let us remind you that on November 10, NABU employees conducted searches at businessman Tymur Mindich’s place, former Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko, and at the company "Energoatom."
The situation around Mindich continues to remain tense. His absentia arrest and the possibility of international search indicate the seriousness of the charges. Observers are monitoring the situation, as it may affect further investigations and the course of legal proceedings in Ukraine.
