Strike on Russian Oil Refinery in Ufa

According to Novyny.live: For the second time, Ukrainian defense forces have hit a Russian oil refinery in Ufa, a facility located more than 1,300 kilometers from the front line. This attack is part of a broader strategy aimed at dismantling the infrastructure that supports Russia’s military operations. In addition to the refinery, Ukrainian forces also targeted a facility belonging to Russia’s military-industrial complex, situated roughly 600 kilometers from the combat zone. These long-range strikes demonstrate Ukraine’s growing capability to project power deep into Russian territory.

The assault comes amid Vladimir Putin’s acknowledgment that Russia has begun tapping into its fuel reserves. This admission signals increasingly severe fuel shortages for the Russian military. Notably, the previous strike on the Ufa refinery occurred shortly after a drone attack on June 28, which targeted a refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar region.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated: 'Our plan for applying Ukrainian long-range sanctions is being carried out daily.'

This underscores that Ukraine’s armed forces are actively working to disrupt the enemy’s resource supply, particularly through strikes on key infrastructure assets. Consequently, attacks on Russian oil refineries are becoming a critical component of Ukraine’s defensive strategy, aimed at weakening Russia’s military capabilities.

Shift in Ukrainian Tactics

This attack highlights a shift in Ukrainian tactics, focusing on hitting vital targets far beyond the battlefield. The Russian government’s admission of using fuel reserves may indicate dwindling resources necessary for waging war, potentially altering Moscow’s overall strategy. Continued assaults on infrastructure could thus prove decisive in shaping the conflict’s trajectory.
