The Ministry of Defense has compiled a ranking of the most popular vacancies among women in recruitment centers.

Nearly 8000 candidates in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, of which 20% are women

Since the establishment of recruitment centers for the Ukrainian army, over 8000 individuals have expressed their desire to become candidates for positions in the Defense Forces. This number includes 20% women. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense.

The Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine emphasized that the active interest of women in service to defend the country indicates the openness and equal opportunities provided by the Ukrainian army for everyone who wishes to join. Women hold important positions in headquarters, medicine, and combat roles, including work with drones.

According to the distribution by military specialty groups, the women who joined the Defense Forces are distributed as follows:

  • staff positions - 24%
  • combat medical workers, nurses, doctors - 22%
  • specialties related to drones - 13%
  • cooks - 12%
  • marksmanship specialties - 6%
  • communications and cybersecurity - 6%
  • psychologists - 3%

It was also noted that recruitment centers show a high level of involvement of women in various regions of Ukraine. The largest number of female candidates for the Defense Forces is proposed in the regions:

  • Chernivtsi - 46%
  • Khmelnytskyi - 42%
  • ternopil - 38%
  • Rivne - 33%
  • Chernihiv - 31%
  • Odesa - 29%
  • Sumy - 27%

In the online recruitment center, which covers all of Ukraine, the female participation rate is 37%.

According to the Ministry of Defense, there is the highest demand among servicemen who join the Defense Forces through recruitment centers for vacancies related to drones, driving, and marksmanship.

The 'Diia' application provides an opportunity to join the armed forces, particularly in the drone army. After submitting an application, a person is assigned to a chosen unit, and they are directed to basic military training already with a signed contract. Fitness for service is also confirmed at the stage of application submission, therefore military commissariats no longer conduct military medical commissions.
