The Ministry of Defense will involve women, veterans, and people with disabilities in demining territories.
The Ministry of Defense plans to increase the involvement of women, veterans, people with disabilities, and those affected by explosive devices in work within the field of mine action. This was announced during the seminar "Equal Opportunities: Engaging People with Disabilities in Employment in Mine Action."
The UN is implementing a program for the employment of people with disabilities, including war veterans, in Ukraine. Four Ukrainians, who suffered from explosive devices, have already been employed by The HALO Trust.
«They will analyze images from satellites and UAVs to identify and map mine-contaminated areas. The job offer was received by the Ukrainians within a month after completing a course on involving people with disabilities in employment in mine action,» reports the Ministry of Defense.
Participants of the seminar were introduced to approaches to employment and workplace organization for people with disabilities in mine action.
The Reintegration Center for released military personnel, which provides medical, rehabilitation, and psychological assistance, has received the status of a healthcare institution. The State Emergency Service received two tractors for humanitarian demining needs, which were purchased with funds provided by Slovenia through the United24 initiative.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that approximately a quarter of Ukraine's territory is potentially contaminated with mines and ammunition, which constitutes about 140,000 square kilometers.
