Current Status of the Paton Bridge

According to TSN.ua: The Paton Bridge in Kyiv remains open to traffic, but with strict weight and speed limits in place. This decision follows a comprehensive technical inspection conducted last year, which confirmed the structure's suitability for continued use. As a vital link across the Dnipro River, its operational status is crucial for the city's daily commute.

Enforced Traffic Restrictions

Specific vehicle restrictions are now enforced on the bridge. Trucks with an axle load exceeding 7 tons are prohibited. Single vehicles are permitted with a maximum weight of 17 tons, while vehicles in a convoy are limited to 10 tons. The traffic flow is organized in a 2+3 lane configuration: two lanes head toward the left bank and three lanes toward the right bank.

Over the past five years, maintenance work has been carried out to ensure the bridge's safety and functionality. Key projects include:

  • Beam cleaning,
  • Railing reinforcement,
  • Pothole repairs on the road surface.

Spanning 1.5 kilometers, the bridge is a critical transport artery for the capital.

Therefore, the Paton Bridge continues to serve its function, facilitating traffic under the established restrictions. Adherence to these weight and speed limits is a necessary measure to preserve the safety and longevity of this key infrastructure, especially considering its age and heavy usage. The positive results from the recent technical inspection provide a solid basis for its ongoing operation, which is welcome news for Kyiv's drivers and residents.
