The Parliament Denies Plans to Change the Exemption for Men with Deferred Service.
According to ТСН: In the Verkhovna Rada, representatives of the defense committee deny that there are plans to revise the categories of men who have a deferment from conscription in the near future.
Committee representative Fedir Venislavsky emphasized that in order to consider the issue of reducing the number of conscripts eligible for deferment or reservation, it is necessary to amend the law on mobilization training, mobilization, concerning military duty and service.
"Currently, there are no initiatives aimed at addressing these issues in parliament. Neither from members of parliament, nor from the government, nor from the president. Therefore, there is currently nothing to discuss. If there are no legislative initiatives, it means that this will definitely not be considered in the coming months," said Fedir Venislavsky.
Commenting on the potential impact of the year-round conscription in Russia on the conflict in Ukraine, he noted:
"I think it will not affect the situation in any way. Russia very rarely uses conscripts in combat operations. The Russians are facing problems, despite significant material incentives to sign contracts. This is according to our intelligence. There is still a resource, but, let's say, as of now, there are no grounds to say that this will somehow affect the situation."
Thus, the issue of reviewing exemptions from conscription remains closed, at least for the near future. Representatives of the defense committee emphasize the absence of legislative initiatives in this area, indicating that no changes are currently planned. The situation with conscriptions in Russia also does not cause them concern, as they believe it will not affect the conflict in Ukraine.
