The Ministry of Education introduces a zero course for applicants: what does it mean.
The Ministry of Education starts a 'zero course' for applicants
According to inkorr.com: The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine is introducing a new mechanism for applicants who were unable to pass the national multi-subject test. The 'zero course' is being implemented — a year of study at higher educational institutions without the mandatory passing of the test. This was announced by the Minister of Education Oksen Lisovyy during the question hour in the Verkhovna Rada.
According to the minister, the new draft resolution opens the possibility of admission to the 'zero course' not only in the summer but also within the framework of additional enrollments, such as 'winter' or 'spring'. This will give applicants who, for various reasons, were unable to pass the test a chance to prepare and successfully take it within a year. This approach will ensure a fair distribution of state resources in the field of education.
'This will allow us to take children who have not passed the test for various reasons: due to educational losses, studying abroad or other circumstances. Over the course of the year, they will have the opportunity to catch up on knowledge and take the NMT after completing the course. Thus, we are not violating the principle of fair distribution of state resources,'Lisovyy emphasized, noting the support for this initiative from the rector community.
Support for applicants in frontline areas
The minister emphasized that he does not consider it appropriate to postpone the test in frontline areas. However, he supports the idea of increasing the regional coefficient for universities operating in these challenging conditions to assist applicants and educational institutions.
Earlier, the Ministry of Education revealed new restrictions for applicants.
During the question hour in the Verkhovna Rada, Lisovyy presented a new mechanism of the 'zero course' that will give applicants a year to prepare and take the test. Support for applicants from frontline areas was also announced through an increase in the regional coefficient for local universities.
These initiatives of the Ministry of Education can significantly ease access to higher education for those who have faced difficulties during preparation for testing. The introduction of the 'zero course' aims to ensure equal opportunities for all applicants, especially in the difficult conditions that the country is experiencing.
