When to Plant Carrots for the Best Results
According to TSN.ua: The prime window for sowing carrots runs from late March through the first half of April. Gardener Oleksiy Pidlubny shares key advice on how to plant this root vegetable correctly. Following the right techniques can significantly improve your growing success.
Preparing the Plot and Sowing the Seeds
Before you start planting, get your garden bed ready. Create rows spaced about 20 cm apart, then water them thoroughly to condition the soil. Carrot seeds should be placed no deeper than 2 cm.
Pay close attention to seed density: avoid sowing too thickly to spare yourself the chore of thinning later. Once the seeds are in, cover them with dry soil.
The soil temperature at planting time should be between +5 and +8°C. After sowing, carrots can take up to three weeks to germinate. Keep in mind that you must not fertilize the bed with fresh manure before planting. By following these guidelines, gardeners can grow a high-quality carrot crop. Oleksiy Pidlubny explains the proper way to sow carrots.
