According to TSN.ua: As Kyiv anticipates a severe cold snap with temperatures plummeting to -27°C, grave concerns are rising for the city's homeless population and their animal companions. The plight of Natalia, a woman aged approximately 60-65, and her dog Boba, who live on the street under a balcony on Rai-duzhna Street, is particularly urgent. Natalia reports feeling generally okay, but clear signs of hypothermia are visible on her face, including frostbitten cheeks that have turned blue. This extreme weather is a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by those without shelter during Ukraine's harsh winters.

A significant drop in temperature is expected, with nighttime lows reaching -23°C, creating life-threatening conditions and making survival increasingly difficult. Oleksandra Haziieva, who is assisting Natalia, noted that the woman has limited mobility and urgently needs to find a safe place near Rai-duzhna Street. Haziieva stressed that it is impossible for Natalia or her dog Boba to remain outdoors in these conditions.

Available Overnight Shelters

For those in need, two heated tents for overnight shelter have been set up in the Troieshchyna district at the following addresses:

• 11 Lavrukhina Street
• 7 Beretti Street

However, various circumstances prevent some homeless individuals from accessing these facilities. The search for warm overnight accommodations remains a critical issue, especially amid such dangerously low temperatures.

The situation for Kyiv's homeless during this intense freeze is critically dangerous, as the extreme cold poses a direct threat to life. Local organizations and volunteers are working to provide solutions and assistance, but the limited number of shelters and resources may prove insufficient for everyone in need.
