Russia launched massive attacks on Kyiv: what the EU ambassador said about the Kremlin's peace initiatives.
According to ТСН: Peace proposals from Russia seem absurd, especially against the backdrop of the massive attack on Ukraine that occurred last night.
This was written by the EU ambassador to Ukraine, Katarina Maternova, on her Facebook.
“As long as Moscow is speaking the language of rockets, drones, and blood – like last night – any offer of peace sounds like a farce. I am outraged and shocked by Russia's actions. Is this how they want to reach an agreement? Are they just pretending? Are killings and attacks more inherent to them?”
The diplomat also noted that Russia strikes precisely when the world is watching the negotiations and hoping for an end to the war.
“Russia attacks at a moment when the entire democratic world anxiously follows discussions about a possible peace agreement, as the cold winter approaches, and when Ukraine is experiencing internal political unrest. Everyone wants peace – but only a just and sustainable peace that respects Ukraine's sovereignty and dignity”
Maternova emphasized that, as a result of attacks on energy infrastructure, children, women, and elderly people suffer. She pointed out that in the cold winter conditions, Russian strikes are aimed at energy facilities. In particular, the capital experienced massive power outages, and homes were left without water supply.
“This is not the first time — Ukraine is under fire every day. The fire is directed not at the front, but at civilian infrastructure”
It is also known that last night and in the morning, the Russian army conducted a massive attack on Kyiv. In particular, in the morning, the Russian side used “Daggers”. Residential buildings were damaged in various districts of the capital.
According to the authorities, two people died in the Svyatoshinsky and Darnytsky districts. In Svyatoshyn, there was a 'Shahed' hitting a house. A family was affected: the father died, while the mother and son were hospitalized.
This attack became yet another confirmation of the constant threat faced by Ukrainians in wartime. Calls for peace resonate against the backdrop of ongoing aggression, highlighting the lack of a genuine intention on the part of Russia. Ukraine needs not only peace but also confirmation of its sovereignty and security so that people can live without fear in a peaceful country.
