Silence, although they suffer — what soldiers do not tell anyone.
Often, soldiers returning from the front become silent and closed. They do not want to share with even their closest people what hurts them. There are several reasons for this, including a reluctance to appear weak.
News.LIVE tells more about this.
What soldiers do not want to talk about
Real emotions and fears
Soldiers are perceived as a strong rock that can withstand everything. However, they are ordinary people who have emotions, experience pain and suffering. At the same time, they often remain silent about their true fears and do not share their experiences with their loved ones, so as not to scare them and to meet the expectations of others. Talk to a defender and help him release his emotions. Explain that being ashamed of feelings is not worth it and he is not obliged to be always strong.
Traumatic memories
Rarely can soldiers tell someone about the terrible memories from the front. They keep the details of battles or moments of the death of their comrades to themselves, although they often replay them in their heads. They are not sure if they will be listened to and understood, so they choose to remain silent. It is not worth insisting on such openness from relatives. However, if a warrior wants to talk but is afraid to start the conversation, help and support him.
Feelings of guilt
Many soldiers have faced feelings of guilt. This may relate to the death of comrades. For example, many defenders blame themselves for surviving while their friends died. Defenders also often reproach themselves for not being with their loved ones during moments when something happens.
Disconnection from civilian life
After the front, soldiers often find it hard to return to civilian life. It may seem distant and unreal, but they often remain silent about it. Defenders are not sure that those who have never been to the front will understand them. This is a sort of 'psychological break' between front-line and peaceful life. A psychotherapist can help deal with this.
We remind you that earlier we wrote about what should never be said to a wife waiting for her beloved from the front.
We also talked about what will help restore the psyche after massive enemy attacks.
Every soldier returning from the front faces a large number of challenges and obstacles in restoring their mental state. It is important to support them and do everything possible to help them through this difficult time.Read also
