Grenade Discovery at Polish Border Crossing Prompts Evacuation of 19.
Border Incident at the Dolhobychów Crossing
According to TSN.ua: Nineteen people were evacuated from the Dolhobychów border crossing with Poland after a grenade was found in a tourist's possession. The incident occurred in the early morning, with authorities being alerted shortly after 5:00 AM. The Dolhobychów crossing is situated in Poland's Lublin Voivodeship, adjacent to the village of Uhryniv in Ukraine's Lviv region. This event highlights the ongoing security vigilance at border points in Eastern Europe.
The evacuation involved a total of 19 individuals, comprising:
- 14 members of the public;
- three customs officers;
- two border guard officers.
"This includes 14 civilians, three customs officers, and two border guard officers," stated Lukasz Homczynski, the duty officer of the command.
Restrictions at Solotvyno Border Crossing
Separately, restrictions remain in effect at the Solotvyno-Sighetu Marmației border crossing. These measures, in place since February 16th, are scheduled to last until April 3rd due to the reconstruction of a bridge over the Tisza River. Such infrastructure work can redirect traffic and increase pressure on other crossing points in the region.
This grenade incident underscores the critical importance of security at border crossings, particularly given the heightened regional tensions. The swift evacuation and response by services demonstrate the readiness of law enforcement to address potential threats. Meanwhile, the ongoing restrictions at the Solotvyno crossing due to bridge reconstruction may increase congestion at alternate crossings, requiring coordinated efforts by authorities to maintain both security and the smooth flow of legitimate travel.
