Two Pedestrians Killed After Mercedes Driver Loses Control in Lviv Region.
Fatal Crash on the Lviv-Shehyni Highway
According to TSN.ua: A tragic road accident occurred in the village of Volytsia, Yavoriv district, on the Lviv-Shehyni highway, claiming the lives of two people. The driver of a Mercedes-Benz, a 25-year-old resident of the Yavoriv district, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer into a ditch.
After the initial impact, the car was thrown across the road to the opposite side. The driver and a 24-year-old female passenger sustained injuries and were hospitalized. Elderly pedestrians caught in the crash zone died at the scene from their injuries.
Local Community Reaction
Investigators have opened criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This incident has sparked concern among local residents, as road safety remains a pressing issue in the area.
“This tragedy on the Lviv-Shehyni highway highlights the road safety problems in the region,” said local residents.
Residents are voicing alarm over the frequency of accidents and are calling for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations. Authorities may be compelled to take measures to improve road conditions, including:
