Son-in-law of Iryna Farion killed in the war with Russia.

Military Vasyl Osoba, husband of Sofiia Semchyshyn, daughter of Iryna Farion, died in the armed conflict with Russians. This was reported by Semchyshyn herself on Facebook, where she also posted a photo of her husband and children.

«Burn in hell, scum! Vasyl Osoba has been killed! My love», – she wrote.

According to the leader of the «Svoboda» party, to which Iryna Farion belonged, Oleh Tyahnybok, Vasyl Osoba died in battle on the Siverskyi frontline. He was a member of the 4th battalion «Freedom Force» of the National Guard brigade «Rubezh».

On September 19, a court hearing took place in the case of the murder of professor Iryna Farion. The court decided to keep the suspect, Vyacheslav Zinchenko, in custody without changes. He remains in custody without the possibility of posting bail until November 17 this year.

The prosecutor reported that as of September 19, the murder weapon of Iryna Farion had not been found. Expert examinations are being conducted, which may be completed in October-November 2024.

The suspect in the murder of Iryna Farion is an 18-year-old young man from Dnipro, Vyacheslav Zinchenko. According to the police, on the evening of July 19, 2024, he shot Iryna Farion, a linguistics expert, in the head with a firearm. She sustained severe injuries and died in the hospital.

Suspect Zinchenko has been in custody since late July. By court decision, he is arrested for two months without the possibility of bail.

Zinchenko denies guilt in the crime. He claims that on the day of Farion's murder, he was in Lviv, but not at the crime scene. He refused to provide the exact location of his client.

The suspect's lawyer appealed to the police with a statement about threats of physical murder from Farion's daughter Sofiia Semchyshyn. However, the police refused to respond to the lawyer's statement and consider the case under the article «Threat of Murder».
