Natalia Mogilevskaya Returns to a Home Without Power, Water, or Heat.
Natalia Mogilevskaya's Return to Ukraine
According to TSN.ua: Ukrainian singer Natalia Mogilevskaya and her family have returned home after a holiday in Tenerife. Their arrival in early January, however, was met with severe difficulties at their house near Kyiv. They discovered the property had no electricity, heating, or running water, with indoor temperatures barely reaching 10 degrees Celsius (50 degrees Fahrenheit).
The power had been cut off for four days. Mogilevskaya had believed their home, with its fireplace, would be a refuge for family. Instead, she was confronted with sub-zero temperatures, frozen pipes, and a complete lack of water. She also noted the absence of communication lines, which compounded the crisis. Her husband, Valentin, is now working to restore the heating and resolve the water issue.
Reflecting a Broader National Challenge
Using solar panels, the family managed to slightly warm other rooms during the daytime. Mogilevskaya added that their children are set to return to school and kindergarten on Monday, as the family strives to adapt to these harsh conditions following their vacation.
The singer's ordeal is a stark illustration of the widespread infrastructure challenges facing Ukraine. Since the onset of the full-scale invasion, the country's energy grid has been a frequent target, leading to persistent outages that disrupt daily life, especially during winter. Her experience underscores the critical need for reliable energy sources and preparedness for the severe seasonal hardships endured by many Ukrainians.
