The court fined the mother of a participant in the disco scandal: the amount is the same as for the son.
According to ТСН: The Kalush City District Court found the mother of one of the participants in the incident at a youth disco guilty of evading parental responsibilities and fined her 1700 hryvnias.
The case concerns a minor boy who was under 16 years old at the time of committing the hooligan act. The scandal drew attention after a video appeared on the Internet, showing two young men 'imitating a sexual act, taking turns sitting on top of each other' during a charity event for youth, aimed at raising donations for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Parental responsibility for upbringing
The court established that the son of this woman committed petty hooliganism in the premises of the 'Yunost' Culture House in Kalush on October 18. This served as the basis for bringing the mother to administrative responsibility for evasion of parental duties (part 3 of Article 184 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses).
During the court session, the woman fully admitted her guilt and requested not to impose strict sanctions on her. As a result, she was fined 1700 hryvnias, along with an additional court fee of over 600 hryvnias. If the fine is not paid within 15 days, its amount will double to 3400 hryvnias.
The fate of the second participant and the position of the organizers
The second participant in the incident is also a minor; however, at the time of committing the hooligan act, he was already 16 years old. By law, such individuals bear administrative responsibility for similar offenses. According to sources, the court made a decision regarding the second young man more than two weeks ago, imposing a fine of 51 hryvnias on him.
The organizers of the event — the Youth Council of Kalush — commented on this incident.
‘As soon as the situation was noticed, the organizers immediately intervened, stopped the actions, and escorted the individuals out of the hall. We sincerely regret that such behavior occurred — it overshadowed the atmosphere of the evening, which involved a lot of effort and goodwill,’
— reported the Youth Council of Kalush.
The organizers also noted that they offered the young men to apologize publicly, but they refused, which indicates an 'unwillingness to take responsibility for their own actions.'
This incident has raised a public discussion about parental responsibility for raising their children and the ethics of behavior at youth events. The participants and organizers of the event were left bewildered by the case, as the purpose of such charity events is to support important initiatives, not to create scandals. The situation once again demonstrates the need for control over the behavior of youth at similar events.
