The Prime Minister of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Manuela Schwesig firmly refuses to restore the 'Nord Stream 2' gas pipeline, which has not yet been put into operation.
This was reported by n-tv.
Schwesig stressed that there is a clear rule in Germany: the pipeline will not receive certification if Russia crosses the defined 'red line'.
'Russia has already largely violated this line due to its aggressive war against Ukraine. This is a threat not only to Ukraine, but also to peace in Europe. Under the current conditions, signals about a possible restoration of the project should not be sent,' Schwesig said regarding rumors about a potential restoration of the pipeline involving American businessmen and Russia.
Earlier, the candidate for the position of Chancellor of Germany from the 'Alternative for Germany' party, Alice Weidel, stated that if she comes to power, she will restore the operation of the 'Nord Stream' gas pipeline.
'All wind turbines in Germany will be destroyed and the operation of functional nuclear power plants will be restored,' Weidel emphasized.
