New fuel excises will hit drivers' wallets: how fuel prices will change at gas stations.
The President of Ukraine signed the law on the phased increase of fuel excises
In early September 2024, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed the law on the phased increase of fuel excises. This decision is part of the country's obligations under the Association Agreement with the European Union and aims to bring Ukrainian legislation in line with EU standards.
This is reported in the NV material.
Fuel excises will increase in phases
Starting from September 1, 2024, fuel excises will amount to: 242.6 euros per 1000 liters of gasoline, 177.6 euros per 1000 liters of diesel fuel, and 148 euros per 1000 liters of liquefied gas.
By 2028, fuel excises will increase to: 359 euros for gasoline, 330 euros for diesel, and 250 euros for gas (per 1000 liters).
Increase in fuel prices
Experts forecast that the increase in excises will lead to higher prices at gas stations. Gasoline will rise by about 1.5 UAH per liter, diesel by 1.95 UAH per liter, and autogas by 5.8 UAH per liter.
Experts' opinions
Serhiy Kuiun, director of the consulting company A-95, notes that thanks to reserves of gasoline and diesel with the old excise, the increase in prices for these types of fuel will be insignificant. However, autogas prices may rise significantly due to the inability to create large reserves. At the same Time, despite price increases, the use of gas will remain economically advantageous compared to gasoline.
It is important to note that funds received from the excise increase are planned to be directed to the needs of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
Recall that as of September 24, autogas in Ukraine rose to a new high. However, Ukrainian gas stations are in no hurry to raise prices for gasoline and diesel, and on some days the average cost decreases by a few kopecks.
