Ukraine to Deploy 35 New Traffic Enforcement Cameras Starting March 6.
Launch of a New Automated Traffic Violation System
According to TSN.ua: A new automated system for detecting traffic violations will become operational in Ukraine starting March 6, 2024. This initiative involves the installation of 35 new camera units and the reactivation of 2 existing ones. Consequently, the total number of automated enforcement complexes across the country will reach 377.
This announcement was made by Oleksii Biloshitskyi, First Deputy Head of the Patrol Police Department.
According to him, the new units will be deployed across various regions, which is expected to enhance the monitoring of traffic law compliance and help reduce the number of road accidents. This expansion is part of ongoing efforts to modernize road safety infrastructure in Ukraine.
Locations for the New Camera Installations
Some of the specific locations scheduled for the new cameras include:
- Brovary: intersection of Kyivska St. – Heroiv Ukrainy St. – Viacheslav Chornovola St. (direction towards Chernihiv);
- Obukhiv: 119 Kyivska St. (direction towards Tatsenky village);
- Vyshhorod: intersection of Sholudenka St. – Boryso-Hlibska St. (direction towards Fruktova St.);
- Bila Tserkva: 113 Oleksandriiskyi Blvd. (direction towards Soborna St.);
- Kyiv Oblast: km 23+550 of the M-07 highway (direction towards Kyiv);
- Vinnytsia: Viacheslav Chornovola St. (near the Kyiv Bridge, direction towards Kyivska St.);
- Chornomorsk: intersection of Zakhysnykiv Ukrainy St. and Vitalii Shuma St. (direction towards highway T-16–47);
- Zolotonosha: 107 Shevchenka St. (direction towards Soborna St.);
- Chernihiv: intersection of Myru Ave. – Liskovytska St. (direction towards Shevchenka St.);
- Chernihiv Oblast: km 125+385 of the M-02 highway (direction towards Bobryk village);
- Volyn Oblast: km 82+929 of the M-19 highway (direction towards Lutsk);
- Zhytomyr Oblast: km 228+889 of the M-06 highway (direction towards Kyiv);
- Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast: km 89+147 of the H-10 highway (direction towards Maidan village);
- Lviv Oblast: km 10+300 of the H-13 highway (direction towards Velykyi Liubin village);
- Odesa Oblast: km 141+319 of the M-15 highway (direction towards Reni).
The implementation of these new automated enforcement systems aims to increase safety on Ukrainian roads and decrease the number of traffic accidents. The strategic placement of cameras in major cities and on key highways is intended not only to enforce rules but also to cultivate greater driver awareness and compliance. This approach is anticipated to significantly improve the overall traffic safety situation nationwide.
