Odesa Region to Adjust Electricity Outage Schedules

According to Novyny.live: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has endorsed a proposal to modify power cut schedules for four communities in the Odesa region where electricity is the sole source of residential heating. Oleg Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, emphasized that for these settlements, the electrical grid is the only means of heating homes. This initiative highlights the critical infrastructure challenges faced by Ukraine's energy system during wartime.

As of February 2, approximately 7,500 families across 97 settlements remain without power. However, over the past day, specialists have successfully restored electricity to nearly 30,000 families in 104 settlements. Notably, in the Odesa region, 448 apartment buildings in Kiliia, Vylkove, Artsyz, and Serhiivka rely exclusively on electricity for heating.

Measures to Improve the Situation

To improve the situation, repair crews have fixed 42 power lines of various voltage classes and brought 442 transformer substations back online. These measures, along with the revised power cut schedules, are designed to ensure a more stable electricity supply in the region, particularly in communities where a lack of power directly threatens residents' living conditions during the winter.

The schedule changes in the Odesa region are crucial for maintaining warmth during the winter months. With electricity serving as the only heating source in many areas, this new initiative could significantly improve living conditions for residents. The importance of a reliable power supply in freezing weather underscores the need to adapt energy strategies to meet the specific needs of vulnerable regions.
