Despite the halt in service, the tram depot continues to perform essential maintenance on its fleet, preparing the vehicles for a potential resumption of operations. The municipal enterprise 'Odesmiskelectrotrans' is designated as critical infrastructure, underscoring its vital role in the city's transportation network.

The company's fleet consists of 217 trams and 143 trolleybuses. Before the blackouts began, approximately 90 trams and 60-70 trolleybuses were deployed daily. With the prolonged stoppage, technical upkeep of the idle vehicles has become the primary focus. Maintenance work continues every day to ensure the fleet is ready to roll when power is reliably restored.

The situation at the enterprise is described as very difficult but under control. Director Serhiy Shcherban notes that disruptions to supply chains are causing significant delays in the delivery of new spare parts. This complicates the process of preparing the trams for a return to the streets. Before any full-scale relaunch, technical vehicles are planned to be sent out first to clear the overhead wires and tracks of debris.

This makes the company reliant on subsidies and critically dependent on support from the Odesa city budget. Concurrently, a broader labor shortage in Odesa could further strain operations, as tram drivers also require stability amidst constantly shifting work schedules.
