Financial Support for Wounded Soldiers: Compensation for Ukrainian Military Personnel with Disabilities.
Lump-Sum Payments for Injured Military Personnel
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian service members who sustain injuries or contract illnesses resulting in disability are entitled to a one-time financial payment. The specific amount of this compensation is determined on a case-by-case basis, depending on the individual circumstances of each incident.
This right to a lump-sum payment extends to service members and defenders who have been discharged from military duty. The provision is governed by Ukraine's Law 'On Social and Legal Protection of Military Personnel'. Key regulations establishing the conditions for receiving this payment include:
- Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated December 25, 2013, No. 975
- Order of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine dated August 14, 2014, No. 530
Amount of the One-Time Financial Assistance
In 2026, the subsistence minimum in Ukraine is set to be 3,328 UAH. For cases involving partial loss of working capacity, the lump-sum payment ranges from 11.6 thousand UAH to 69.9 thousand UAH. If a service member is officially recognized as having a disability, the compensation increases significantly, ranging from 232.9 thousand UAH to 1,331.2 thousand UAH. These financial measures are designed to support soldiers who have suffered serious injuries during service, providing them with a degree of social security. This system is part of Ukraine's broader effort to care for veterans of the ongoing conflict with Russia.
The significance of this one-time payment for disabled service members lies in its ability to offer crucial financial support during challenging life transitions. Such compensation helps cover essential costs for medical treatment and rehabilitation, while also contributing to a level of social stability for veterans and their families.
'However, for these payments to be implemented effectively, the individual needs of each service member must be considered, which may require additional administrative efforts from the state.'
