Russian officer switched to the side of Ukraine: exclusive interview with a volunteer.
According to inkorr.com: A Russian officer, Lev, maintained contact with the Ukrainian side, sharing details about his unit. He decided to leave the ranks of the occupying troops and join the Russian Volunteer Corps, which is fighting for Ukraine. He shared this in an interview with journalist Dmitry Karpenko.
No matter what I did, I couldn't get released from the army. The only way would have been to cut off my finger. There is a list of 30 diseases that allow you to leave the army, but that wasn't an option for me. I also wouldn't be able to leave the country.
Lev is a career military man who graduated from a cadet school and a military academy in Saint Petersburg, and then went to the front as an officer. Although he didn't wish to participate in the war, he had no choice since he served in the army.
Decision to surrender and join the RDK
Recently, Lev decided to capitulate to the Ukrainian forces and began actively supporting them in the fight against the Russians. His actions helped the Armed Forces of Ukraine strike the 36th brigade, leading to significant losses among the occupants. As a result, after a successful special operation, Lev switched to the side of Ukraine, and his family supported this decision.
This case illustrates the complexity of choices faced by military personnel in a conflict. It highlights the importance of personal beliefs and moral values in a soldier's life, as well as the impact such decisions can have in war.
