Crimeans to Be Drawn into Combat Operations

According to TSN.ua: Beginning April 1, the occupation authorities in Crimea plan to forcibly enlist local residents into military operations against Ukrainian forces. As part of this campaign, the Russian command is rotating personnel from the 810th Separate Marine Brigade, based in Sevastopol, to form a new division. This move has sparked anxiety among the local population, especially since Moscow previously pledged that Crimeans would not be required to fight.

With the arrival of April, Crimeans will be compelled to join combat missions, signaling a shift in the occupiers' strategy. Security expert Vladyslav Voloshyn commented:

“The Russians promised that Crimeans would not go to war, but now they are being forced to take part in hostilities.”
This change risks dragging civilians directly into the conflict, fueling growing unease among residents.

Military Buildup in Donetsk Region

Meanwhile, forces are being reinforced in the Donetsk region and southern areas. To sustain combat operations, 265 armored vehicles are being transferred to occupied Donetsk. These moves are part of a broader Russian military strategy that includes pulling equipment and reinforcements from Moscow. Concurrently, the redeployment of marine infantry underscores Moscow's intent to strengthen its foothold in the region.

In light of these developments, Crimeans now face heightened risks to their lives and safety due to ongoing military actions. The forced involvement of locals in the conflict contradicts earlier assurances from the occupation authorities and raises alarm within the international community. Such steps could further escalate regional tensions and deepen humanitarian challenges for Crimea's population.
