Ukrainian Foreign Ministry condemned Maduro's regime: Kyiv does not recognize its legitimacy

According to ТСН: Ukraine has always supported the right of peoples to live freely, without authoritarianism, repression, and violations of human rights. However, Nicolás Maduro's regime in Venezuela has "violated all these principles in every aspect."

This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha.

He emphasized that Kyiv has not recognized Maduro's legitimacy after the falsified elections and the violence against protesters.

"Democratic countries and human rights organizations around the world have pointed out widespread crimes, violence, torture, oppression, abuse of all fundamental freedoms, vote theft, and the destruction of democracy and the rule of law by his regime. The people of Venezuela must have a chance for a normal life, security, prosperity, and human dignity," emphasized the head of the Foreign Ministry.

According to him, Ukraine supports further development in accordance with the principles of international law, "prioritizing democracy, human rights, and the interests of Venezuelans."

Calls of European leaders

The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, called on the USA to exercise restraint. He noted that the EU has repeatedly emphasized Maduro's illegitimacy, advocating for a peaceful transfer of power. However, the diplomat added that "it is necessary to adhere to the principles of international law."

Comments by the Polish Foreign Minister

Meanwhile, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, commenting on the situation in Venezuela, subtly hinted to Putin about Maduro's fate. He noted that "this could not happen to a good guy." It is worth noting that the American president has repeatedly used this term to describe the "Fuhrer" of the Russian Federation.

These statements underscore the complex situation in Venezuela, where the political crisis has been ongoing for several years. The response of the international community, including Ukraine, indicates an interest in stability and change in the country. Elections held under the control of authoritarian regimes continue to raise concern in the global community, which emphasizes the need to restore democracy and human rights.
