Orban supported US criticism of the EU: Europe is in a dead end.
According to ТСН: Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban expressed his support for the United States, which has recently been actively criticizing the European Union.
In his post on platform X, he emphasized that the new US national security strategy is the "most important and interesting document of recent years." Orban also noted that Brussels is being discussed in the same tone as the Biden administration and Brussels talked about us.
"You reap what you sow. Americans also see that Europe has entered a prolonged economic dead end. A weak ally cannot defend itself and cannot be relied upon in international affairs. They also see the civilizational crisis in Europe. They see that European civilizational values, democracy, and free market are under threat," he said.
Orban noted that the US position indicates that "European liberals have burned the network of relations that once existed with Russia, which was a mistake."
"To sum up: America has a clear understanding of the decline of Europe. They see a civilizational decline of epic proportions, which we in Hungary have been fighting for 15 years. Finally, we are fighting this not alone," added the head of the Hungarian government.
Recently, US President Donald Trump gave a major interview to Politico, where he sharply criticized Europe, accusing it of weakness and inability to resolve the war between Russia and Ukraine. He stated that European capitals are focused on "political correctness, which makes them weak."
Moreover, the US updated its national security strategy, in which important priorities became "friendship with Russia" and the supremacy of American interests. The document emphasized that the US policy towards Europe should focus on restoring strategic stability in relations with Russia, giving Europe greater responsibility for its own defense, and preventing further NATO expansion.
Orban's position indicates changes in relations between Europe and the US. With criticism of the European Union and an emphasis on America’s importance for global stability, the Hungarian Prime Minister's words provoke new discussions about the role of western leaders in the modern world. This may influence further strategies for cooperation between the continents in the context of growing geopolitical challenges.
