Accusations from the Hungarian Opposition

According to TSN.ua: The leader of the Hungarian opposition party "Tisza", Péter Magyar, has accused Prime Minister Viktor Orbán of conducting a secret operation aimed at his party. According to Magyar, as part of these actions, shortly before the elections, searches were conducted on IT specialists, which is said to indicate political pressure on the opposition.

The searches took place on July 8, 2025, and were carried out by officers from the Cyber Crime Department of the National Investigation Bureau of Hungary. A 38-year-old IT security specialist and a 19-year-old volunteer are among those identified as suspects in the case. The basis for the actions of the authorities was an anonymous tip regarding the alleged preparations for the creation and distribution of child pornography. However, as Magyar emphasizes, no evidence confirming these allegations was found.

Course of the Operation and Reactions

During the operation, dozens of data carriers and computer equipment were secured. It was supervised by the Constitutional Protection Service of Hungary, and the copying of information from the seized devices was handled by experts from the National Security Service (NBSZ). Magyar added that after the disclosure of correspondence with a mysterious "Henry", the special services began to exert pressure on the police leadership.

"At the behest of Viktor Orbán and his closest entourage, Hungarian special services acted against the 'Tisza' party, which was preparing to change the government," stated Péter Magyar.

The politician compared this case to the most notorious scandals in history, stating: "The Orbangate scandal resembles the worst times of communism and is more serious than the Watergate scandal in the USA, which led to the downfall of President Nixon."

The situation has raised concerns among political analysts and social activists, who fear that such actions could have serious consequences for democratic processes in Hungary.

The events related to the searches of IT specialists and the allegations of a secret operation may indicate an escalation of political conflict in Hungary ahead of the elections. The prolonged conflicts between the government and the opposition, as well as the activity of law enforcement agencies, raise concerns about adherence to democratic principles and civil liberties. The reaction of society to these events may significantly affect the political landscape of the country in the near future.
