According to ТСН: During the daytime program of the World Christmas Circus in Stuttgart, an incident occurred that shocked over two thousand spectators. A duet of acrobats fell onto the arena from a height of about five to six meters while executing a stunt.

This incident happened on Monday at around 16:15. The pair of performers: 49-year-old Dmytro and 19-year-old Daria from the Ukrainian duet "Flight of Passion" were performing on aerial straps when the support suddenly broke, and they fell onto the sawdust-covered ring. The police state that both sustained serious injuries but remained conscious after the fall.

Witness accounts

Witnesses recount that at first they thought it was part of the show.

"I was at the performance with my two grandchildren aged 8 to 11. We saw the two performers fall, and initially thought it was part of the show,"
recalls 68-year-old visitor Ingeborg Lepka. She notes that the man managed to get up, while the girl remained motionless.

Quick action by circus staff

Circus staff promptly announced an evacuation and reported that the injured requested to continue the performance. An hour later, the show resumed in another tent.

Production manager Dalien Cohen confirmed that the causes of the fall have not yet been established. He noted that the floor was covered with mats and sawdust, which partially cushioned the impact. Dmytro complained of leg injuries, while Daria reported back pain. Both were hospitalized in different hospitals.

The Stuttgart police have initiated an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the incident.

This incident once again highlights the importance of safety during circus performances. Despite many spectators perceiving the fall of the performers as part of the show, it served as a serious reminder of the risks associated with acrobatic stunts. The continuation of the show in another tent demonstrates the organizers' desire to provide visitors with positive experiences despite the incident.
