According to ТСН: In Virginia, USA, a 'drunk raccoon' that broke into an alcoholic beverage store turned out to be a true offender.

Employees of the Hanover County Animal Protection Department reported the incident. The animal sneaked into the Ashland ABC store during Black Friday, broke several bottles of alcohol, and was found unconscious in the establishment's restroom.

Repeat Offender

As stated by staff member Samantha Martin on the county's Hear In Hanover podcast, this incident was not the first in the raccoon's 'criminal biography'.

“This is not the first time he has sneaked into buildings in this retail area,” Martin noted.

According to Martin, the raccoon attempted to break into stores at least three times. The animal also visited a karate studio and the vehicle department, where it sampled some snacks.

Returning to Its Roots

After the incident in the store, the raccoon was taken to the shelter for the night to 'sober it up'. The next day, it was released near the site of its adventures.

“We do not relocate raccoons, as this is essentially a death sentence for them,” Martin explained.

The staff member also noted that the animal impressively always finds its way back to the same building.

“He is a very clever little rascal,” she joked.

Martin expressed hope that after the latest incident, the raccoon would be more restrained.

“One wants to believe that he learned his lesson. But, to be honest, he is just living his best life,” said Martin. “Well, why not? Especially on Black Friday—a drink or two can be allowed.”

It was also mentioned that mutant raccoons have been spotted in cities.

The situation with the raccoon turned out to be rather amusing and showed how animals can have unpredictable adventures in human settlements. The incident in the store not only highlights the humor in animal antics but also the importance of responsible attitudes toward wild animals that often try to adapt to urban environments.
