The police prepares for the confiscation of cars from drunk drivers: new strict penalties.
According to inkorr.com: The Patrol Police of Ukraine is considering the possibility of introducing strict measures against drivers in a state of intoxication, including the confiscation of their vehicles for the benefit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Among the proposed measures are fines up to 51,000 hryvnias, revocation of driving licenses, and confiscation of cars for driving under the influence during martial law.
It is also planned to implement other harsh measures, such as fines for aggressive driving, exceeding allowable noise levels, and unjustified speeding. A bill has already been developed that foresees mandatory towing of cars to the impound lot in case of detection of driving under the influence.
'All these measures are aimed at increasing the feeling of inevitable punishment. International experience confirms that this is the best way to enforce discipline,' said Oleksiy Biloshytsky.
Strengthening control over elderly drivers
The Verkhovna Rada is also discussing a bill that provides for increased control over drivers over 65 years old. This initiative is prompted by the statistics of road traffic accidents and includes mandatory medical examinations and psychological tests.
There are already age restrictions in Ukrainian legislation for obtaining a driver's license, as well as updated tests on traffic rules for new drivers.
The Patrol Police of Ukraine is actively working on implementing strict measures against drunk drivers, including the confiscation of vehicles for the benefit of the Armed Forces. In the future, it is also planned to strengthen control over elderly drivers to reduce the number of road traffic accidents among this category.
