Pope Francis XIV expressed his desire to mediate negotiations between Ukraine and Russia to end the war. The pontiff called on both sides to meet and restore the dignity of nations.
Pope Francis XIV himself expressed his readiness to pray for peace, tranquility, and reconciliation, emphasizing the importance of turning the page and starting coexistence anew. President Volodymyr Zelensky, in turn, thanked Pope Francis XIV for his offer of mediation to restore peace.
The meeting of the pontiff with the delegation of Eastern Catholic Churches, including the head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, was also successful. Pope Francis XIV confirmed his support for Ukraine and his intention to assist in the peaceful resolution of the conflict.
