Eligibility for a One-Time Retirement Benefit

According to Novyny.live: Under Ukrainian law, employees in specific sectors are entitled to a one-time retirement benefit equivalent to ten months of their pension upon reaching the statutory retirement age, provided they meet certain conditions. This entitlement is governed by Law No. 1058-IV 'On Mandatory State Pension Insurance'.

Which Professions Receive This State Benefit?

The benefit is available to workers in education, healthcare, social services, and culture. To qualify, applicants must satisfy the following requirements:

  • Women must have a minimum of 30 years of insurance coverage;
  • Men must have at least 35 years;
  • For education, healthcare, and social security workers, a service length of 25 years is required;
  • Athletes need a minimum of 25 years of service, including at least six years as members of national teams.

Additionally, artists are eligible for a service-based pension regardless of their age, provided they have between 20 and 35 years of creative work. This allows many in creative professions to receive pension payments without waiting for the standard retirement age. It's important to note that Ukraine's pension reform is an ongoing process, projected to last up to 13 years, reflecting gradual changes to the social security framework. This system is part of a broader effort to support those who have dedicated their careers to public service.

Consequently, Ukraine's pension and benefit system is designed not only to support individuals who have reached retirement age but also to recognize those who have devoted a significant portion of their lives to serving society in key sectors. This approach aims to ensure social equity and provide support for people committed to vital professions. Amidst a prolonged pension system overhaul, such support can be a crucial factor in enhancing the welfare and stability of Ukrainians working in socially important fields.
