According to the latest reports, the first casualties have already been recorded among the North Korean soldiers.

Russian forces advanced during battles in the Kursk region

According to ISW analysts, Russian forces recently advanced on the main Ukrainian direction in the Kursk region during battles on November 3. Russian military reporters claim that their troops advanced across fields to the north and northwest of Pogrebki (northwest of Sudzha) and near Nova Sorochina (directly south of Pogrebki), as well as captured a defensive strip east of Malaya Loknya (south of Nova Sorochina). However, ISW does not have visual confirmation of these claims.

North Korea has transferred about 10 thousand military personnel to Russia. In the war against Ukraine, they may face a number of problems, according to British intelligence.

North Korean military on the front in Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with the South Korean TV channel KBS that the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin involved North Korean military in the war against Ukraine to avoid additional mobilization in Russia. Zelensky added that currently there are 3 thousand North Korean military in the preparatory Russian camps and their number will soon increase to 12 thousand.

The UN Security Council is also discussing the deployment of North Korean military on the front in Ukraine. The representative of Ukraine, Serhiy Kyslytsia, said that North Korean military may directly participate in combat operations against the Armed Forces of Ukraine as early as in November.

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte also confirmed the involvement of North Korean military by Russia in the war against Ukraine. Military units from DPRK are currently located in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.
