During the Red Cross conference, the 'Save Ukrainian Prisoners' action will take place.
The public organization 'Voyatskiy Vyzyvil' together with other associations of families of prisoners of war and missing defenders of Ukraine plans to hold an event in Geneva, Switzerland, during which they will address the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The 'Save Ukrainian Prisoners. Locate the Missing' event will take place on October 29 at 17:30 at Nations Square, as reported by the Coordination Headquarters on handling prisoners of war on Telegram.
From October 28 to 31, the 34th International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, which takes place every four years, will be held in Geneva. At this conference, organization delegates are supposed to discuss their successes and issues. However, the conference's organizing committee refused to include on the agenda the issue of the failed access of the ICRC to Russia's illegal prisons, where Ukrainian prisoners and civilians are held.
The organizers of the event had approached the ICRC office with a proposal to discuss this problem, but their requests went unanswered. Therefore, the families of Ukrainian prisoners and missing defenders of Ukraine decided to appeal directly to the conference participants to draw their attention to the situation of Ukrainians in Russian captivity.
The event organizers emphasize that the lack of access to detention sites violates human rights and poses a danger to their lives. Such a situation encourages Russia's impunity and leads to torture, abuse, and murder of Ukrainian prisoners.
