Rescue Worker Dies in Yahotyn Following Russian Strike

According to TSN.ua: A Ukrainian State Emergency Service (SES) rescuer was killed and another injured while responding to the aftermath of a Russian attack in Yahotyn, Kyiv region. The tragedy occurred as crews battled a major fire at warehouse buildings ignited by the strike. This incident highlights the extreme dangers faced by first responders in Ukraine's ongoing war.

The deceased rescuer has been identified as Mykhailo Protsenko, 30, a chief master sergeant of the civil protection service in the 22nd Fire and Rescue Unit. He died due to hazardous conditions encountered while performing his duties. His colleague, Serhii Khobotnia, 49, the commander of a unit in the 22nd Fire and Rescue Unit, was wounded and hospitalized.

The Attack and Its Aftermath

In the early hours of February 7, Russian forces launched a massive combined missile and drone assault across Ukraine. According to reports, a total of 447 aerial attack weapons were recorded, including:

  • 2 "Zircon" missiles
  • 21 Kh-101 cruise missiles
  • 408 attack UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles)

Primary targets of the widespread attack included the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, and Vinnytsia regions.
