The Ground Forces Must Change Their Approaches to Development - Mykhailo Drapaty

Commander of the Ground Forces Mykhailo Drapaty stated that the ground forces must undergo changes and apply modern approaches to improving the skills of soldiers to become elite forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The military emphasized that the priority is to change the attitude towards people and review programs and training centers to ensure quality training, taking into account the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the combat situation.

“The skills and abilities of our infantrymen must be as practical and applicable as possible, without unnecessary lyricism, and the main carriers of this knowledge should be experienced sergeants,” he added.

Drapaty noted that the Ground Forces must be ready for new challenges in the security sphere, which requires a transparent personnel recruitment system.

“Secondly, it is necessary to modernize the infantry's armament. The Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine should become high-tech, flexible, and adaptive. Elite. At this moment, I refrain from providing details. We will work together with the team of the General Staff, the President of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense, and other agencies, as well as with volunteers and foundations,” he wrote.

It is also planned to optimize management processes. “We need maneuverability and effectiveness in the administrative apparatus. This can be achieved through organizational changes and digitalization. Special attention will be paid to logistical support and training,” Drapaty noted.

The Commander of the Ground Forces emphasized that the main goal is to review the structure of Time distribution for officers between office work and finding a more useful use of this resource.

“Attention will be paid to people, technologies, and transparent management in the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Changes will definitely happen,” he wrote.

Mykhailo Drapaty was appointed the new commander of the Ground Forces, this information was confirmed by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during a meeting of the Supreme Commander’s Staff.

After the meeting, Zelensky instructed to prepare a report that would outline the issues requiring immediate changes, along with specific plans and candidates for replacement. The President assured that necessary measures would be taken at the organizational and financial levels to update the training system for Ukrainian military personnel.
