Extrajudicial extradition of the suspect in the Nord Stream explosions: what we know about the case.
According to ТСН: On Thursday, a Ukrainian named Serhiy Kuznetsov was extradited to Germany, suspected of involvement in the explosions of the Russian gas pipelines 'Nord Stream.' He was transferred from Italy, as his lawyer Mykola Katerynchuk reported.
'The German police ordered a plane that brought Serhiy from Italy to Germany,' the lawyer noted.
According to him, Kuznetsov is already virtually in the city of Karlsruhe in the state of Baden-Württemberg. On Friday, he is expected to be brought to court for a preventive measure.
'It will be a formality - 30 minutes, and he will be sent to Hamburg,' the defender added.
In the detention center in Hamburg, Kuznetsov will be held in a single cell designed for one person.
What we know about the Kuznetsov case
Serhiy Kuznetsov was arrested under a European arrest warrant on August 21 at a campsite near the Italian city of Rimini, where he was vacationing with his family.
According to extradition documents, the German prosecutor's office believes that Kuznetsov organized and carried out the detonation of at least four bombs at a depth of 70 to 80 meters in the Baltic Sea near the Danish island of Bornholm on September 26, 2022.
As a result of these explosions, the Russian gas pipelines 'Nord Stream-1' and 'Nord Stream-2' were seriously damaged, the latter of which has not yet been put into operation. Kuznetsov denies his involvement in the explosions, claiming that he was in Ukraine serving in the Armed Forces at the time of the explosions.
Earlier, the Supreme Court of Italy made a decision to extradite Kuznetsov to Germany in connection with suspicions of involvement in the explosions of the 'Nord Stream' pipelines.
This case attracts attention not only in Germany but also on the international stage, as the explosions of the pipelines had serious economic and political consequences for European countries. The investigation is ongoing, and new details are emerging that may affect further legal proceedings surrounding Kuznetsov. The situation around this incident remains tense, and the public is eagerly awaiting the results of the court hearings and subsequent court decisions.
