Kyiv launched a digital discount card for veterans and pensioners: how to obtain it.
According to ТСН: The "Kyiv Digital" app has introduced a new transportation discount card for veterans and pensioners, allowing them to travel for free on public transport without the mandatory presence of a "Kyivite card".
The launch of this service was announced by the Kyiv City State Administration via Telegram.
What benefits does the new card offer
This digital card provides free travel on public transport in Kyiv for individuals eligible for benefits, including veterans, pensioners, and residents of other cities who have not previously received a "Kyivite card".
How to obtain the discount card
To use the new discount card, you need to:
-
Open the section "Transport Card" → "Discount Card" → "Get Card" in the app.
-
Confirm your eligibility for benefits by sending a digital copy of your identification through the "Diia" app. After verification, the card will automatically appear in the app.
If your identification is not displayed in "Diia", users are advised to contact the district social protection department.
Using the discount card on transport
To use the discount card on transport, you need to:
-
Open the card in the app and tap "Create QR Ticket";
-
Present the QR code to the validator and wait for the sound signal and green indicator that confirm successful validation.
Important: the digital card does not replace identification – during verification, you must show both the QR ticket and the paper identification to confirm your eligibility for benefits.
Recall that earlier discussions were held about who is entitled to discounted and free travel on trains and electric trains of "Ukrzaliznytsia".
This news will be an important step in ensuring transport accessibility for those in need of support. The introduction of the new card aims to ease the lives of veterans and pensioners by removing unnecessary barriers when using public transport. This is also reflected against the backdrop of the overall move towards the digitization of state services.
